So here's the scoop on macro mining. It's basically when you use a program to mine on auto pilot. It's a touchy subject for sure... Lots of players especially ones that have been around a while and already have the fancy ships and toys get pretty ticked off about it. Somehow they feel like they have 'earned' all their expensive stuff with long hours at the keyboard tolling away.
I understand where they are coming from but this is the way I look at it. EVE is super fun, perhaps the best game I have ever played but... it's hard enough to get a handle on all the ever changing details of the game much less save up enough isk to buy all the fancy toys. I love playing, but I also have a real life that precludes me spending every waking moment mining roids.
I haven't got that much time to play, and when I do I want to enjoy myself. I want to fly a cool ship (say 50 mil), equip it with fun things like cloaking devices (say 10 mil), weapons, defenses (maybe 15 mil) and even some drones (5 mil for the good ones). I also had to spend a bunch on skills just to fly the darn thing.
My first fun ship... about 100 mil, and BOOM, I'm taken out by some pirate after 15 minutes of flying around. One of the same a-holes that bitches and wines about macro miners because he 'earned' is crap. Hmm, not so much fun for me. HOURS upon HOURS of mining, trading, whatever, wasted with my new ship left in a heaping wreck by some butt wipe... It's a game after all, isn't it supposed to be fun?
So my solution to have some fun was to use a little macro mining to get some cash to replace my ship. Im not trying to rule the world, just have some fun. If people out there wanna bitch and whine, whatever. I don't here them complaining about the scammers that post 1 mil buy orders for 100 million dollar battleships hoping someone won't notice. Besides my isk spend just as well as anyone else's.
Let me warn you though and try to save you some real money. Most of the macro's out there are total crap. Almost all of them require you to spend hours figuring out how to make them work, editing code and in the end they barely work at all. I found one, only one, that I was very impressed with though. It works right out of the box, no code, no fuss. It has some very cool features like mining drones, and letting you pick what roids you want to mine. I was pleasantly suprised that it even had an automated skill trainer.
The guys who make it not only update it frequently but has real life live voice support using ventrilo, forums and IM. It's hands down the only real working option out there.
EVE on dude... It is by the juice of safu that the thoughts acquire speed...
